Unlike older pupils, the swimming sessions for young children focus on cultivating water awareness and integrating education with entertainment. Children are encouraged to overcome their fear of water and enjoy playing in the water, preparing them for further learning and practising swimming skills in the future.
The PE teaching team use a variety of water games such as underwater object retrieval, mini water polo, water relay, and story role-playing to help children become familiar with water and master basic water skills. These activities also promote the development of children's fine motor skills, positively affecting their hand flexibility and directional grasping. With the help of these interesting forms of activities, some children who were initially afraid of getting into the water were able to adapt to the pool and move and flip flexibly in the water after only two classes. Many children also find playing games in the water even more fun than on land! This helps children develop a good interest in sports unconsciously.
