Octopus Mr.'s grocery store is open!

20 May 2024

At Hiba Academy Nantong, acquiring knowledge is not about rote memorization, but more often occurs through a variety of rich and interesting project explorations and even in daily life. For example, look at the recent " Octopus Mr.'s grocery store " project conducted with the EY 3 and EY 4 classes!

As Ms Judy shared in the video, in the carefully designed project studies, children's wide range of areas receive development and practice. In addition to the application and practice of mathematics, children's communication abilities, understanding of the world, and other different dimensions of ability in the early childhood stage are exercised and enhanced in the continuous deepening and extending activities. During the activities, the children constantly communicate and discuss with their peers their understanding of the grocery store: What are the store rules? How do they calculate their change? What to do when their money is insufficient? How to plan their spending? The children even created their own pirate hieroglyphics, vividly explaining the store rules to younger pupils!

In various project studies sparked by children's current interests, their development is more natural and authentic, with higher levels of involvement and enthusiasm. By promptly understanding the children's interests and developmental trends, we flexibly adjust the teaching activities and the learning environment to create realistic scenarios for children to explore and learn. Encouraging children to apply knowledge effortlessly in real life, they gain happiness and growth while accumulating knowledge, thus driving the children to further explore and creating a virtuous cycle.
