In order to spread the unique exploration story of the Seed Village to more people, the children in EY3&4, combining their own thinking and discussion, came up with the idea of creating a Seed Village Museum.
We want to create a museum! What an amazing project!
Many adults may have rarely had such experiences and seeing such a project can be overwhelming and difficult to know where to start. But our children, facing such a huge challenge, wowed everyone with practical actions: this is not a fantasy, we have successfully done it!
我们脑海里的博物馆怎样的?
What does the Seed Village Museum in our mind look like?
At the beginning of planning the Seed Village Museum, the children shared their existing knowledge of museums. They picked up their pens and used the most intuitive and simple way to display their understanding on paper. Then, combined with the actual situation in the classroom, they enthusiastically discussed how to set up the exhibition in the classroom... In the vast space of imagination, the framework of the Seed Village Museum has taken shape.
"We have two classrooms; one side can be used as a viewing area, and the other can be an experience area!"
"I want to display the household items that the villagers use!"
"We should have a museum curator!"
"And a guide in the museum!"
As the discussion deepened, various details were continuously enriched and optimized. The children transformed into museum guides, sharing with their peers the various items they wanted to exhibit in the Seed Village Museum.
现实里的博物馆是什么样的?
What do museums look like in reality?
The atmosphere for preparing the Seed Village Museum became increasingly enthusiastic, and the challenges facing the children also grew. Why not gather our questions and seek help from more professional experts? After all, Nantong has ten museums! How are exhibitions set up in museums? What kind of labels are needed? How should products be displayed? How do guides work? With these questions in mind, the children visited the Nantong Museum.
The museum was filled with various exhibits. The children visited with great enthusiasm, carefully listening to the guides' explanations, and of course, did not forget their mission for this trip. They carefully recorded every small moment they discovered with paper, pen, and photos, and thought about how to combine and implement them in the Seed Village Museum. This trip was truly fruitful!
我们的博物馆是这样的!
Our Seed Village Museum looks like this!
We started to harvest the fruits of our visit to the Nantong Museum, with everyone intensely focused on the preparation of our Seed Village Museum. During our bilingual sessions, we noticed the desire to complete the museum mission, encouraging them to actively discuss and decide the necessary next steps for the Seed Village Museum creation.
"I think the things on display should have labels in Chinese and English. Let me make the labels!"
"The 12 families in the model can be identified with numbers so it can be clearer!"
"I think our museum needs a tour guide. Who's going to be the tour guide? How many would be appropriate?"
"Besides drawing labels, we can also use the iPad to record the introduction! So, you can also listen to the audio introduction!"
"These tools can be placed on the table, some can be standing, and others can be hung with hooks!"

The children were very excited to share these wonderful ideas, and they used their free exploration time to put their plans into practice. They worked together in groups, helping each other, and their hearts were tightly bound together! The Seed Village Museum, which gathered the efforts of all members, was thus born!
On Tuesday of this week, the invitation cards carefully made and sent out by the children brought the first batch of visitors to the Seed Village Museum! The children led our visitors on a tour of the museum, showing them various corners and exhibits, experiencing a variety of handicraft activities, and even enjoying a shadow puppet show! The hard work and dedication turned into a huge sense of accomplishment at the moment of unanimous praise, just like the farmers in Seed Village finally harvested heavy fruits from barren land with the help of many. We believe that this museum, which gathers the efforts of everyone, will continue to improve and preserve the story of Seed Village.
