Drawing Club

15 Apr 2024

Since last semester, the nursery has initiated a drawing club programme, championed by Mr. Greg Bottrill, that encourages children to express their ideas and feelings through art. In the drawing club, children have infused stories with a fresh vitality by combining their own imagination and creativity with existing narratives.

Last week, the children in EY1&2 were engaged in a project study called "My House" in conjunction with the story of "The Three Little Pigs." As a result, they have imagined and created their own version of the Big Bad Wolf during their time at the drawing club. Based on their own cognition and imagination, they have interpreted various characteristics and images of the Big Bad Wolf through their paintings and have thoughtfully elucidated the details of their artwork to their classmates and teachers. Who says the Big Bad Wolf can only look one way? The children's renditions are in no way inferior to those found in picture books!

Drawing not only serves as a vessel for the children's creativity and imagination but also satisfies their strong curiosity. The drawing club project has expanded their artistic skills and kindled their thinking and language abilities. Through art, they express their viewpoints and sentiments while also actively engaging with other children, learning from one another and gaining inspiration. The drawing club project has constructed a creative and inclusive platform for the children, allowing them to dig into their potential and showcase their talents in a joyful atmosphere.
